Friends of the Science Fair's purpose is to support the Science and Engineering Fair participants in the State of Florida.

Through the sale of photographs, display boards and titles, and pins, FoSF has helped thousands of young science fair participants compete in Science and Engineering Fairs at State and International levels.

• FoSF covers the cost for transportation of the participants, their Science Fair boards and the hotel for the duration of the State Fair, usually 5 days.
• FoSF also pays for airfare, shipping of the boards, and hotel for students who compete in the International Science Fair.
• FoSF covers cost for the International Bridge Competition.
• FoSF gives Awards to Science and Engineering Fair participants.
• FoSF pays for fieldtrips at the competitions.
  

In the past, when a child qualified for the State or International Science Competitions, his/her parents had to pay hundreds of dollars for the trip themselves. Sometimes deserving students could not take part in this incredible experience because of the financial burden on their parents.
Friends of the Science Fair was started to give everyone an equal chance to participate.
